Over the past fourteen years, Joy Bainborough has created, produced, directed, acted as musical director and choreographed over a dozen new Canadian theatrical revues. These productions were written specifically for her student theatre companies - The Strolling Youth Players and her present enterprise, The Joy of Performing Arts Academy. Thousands of students, as well as seniors and the general public, have enjoyed the efforts of her youthful singers-dancers-actors in these exciting, imaginative and often thought-provoking, shows and cabarets. As
a result of all the training and semi-professional experience, Joy's
students have had great success in their careers due to the confidence
building, creative thinking and problem-solving skills they have developed
within the classroom and at their shows. Many of her students have
been immediately accepted into university programmes. Several have
gone on to Sheridan College, Ryerson University, Queen's University,
Western University ....... Joy
is committed to establishing a professional standard for all of her
students so that when they choose whether they would like to further
their careers in the performing arts, or pursue playing lead roles
in local community productions, they will achieve their objectives.
As David Fanstone, former Artistic director of the SunShine Festival
in Orillia once said, " Joy, I always know when one of your students
are auditioning for me. They are completley professional in their
auditions and their understanding of theatre decorum."
